On October 6th Place – Namibia
Flying over the highest dunes of Sossusvlei to the red side in a little Cessna 210 when there is nothing else you can see 360 degrees, but the sand dunes (45 minutes) was really humbling. He left me and my two traveling companions do not speak: we sat in the place gawping at the immensity of the surrounding landscape, pointing and chattering with our cameras. And then, finally reaching the coast and fly meters above the wreck that leaves the beach and the ancient sites of diamond mining, long since abandoned, also was once in a lifetime experience – almost melt in sea level over a seemingly endless beach is highly recommended for those who need a new type of adrenaline buzz!
Skeleton Coast, following the north, was the highlight for me next. There are no roads in the park of the Skeleton Coast, which really adds to the excitement and distance – you really feel like you're at the end of the road. Even the water must be introduced, it is not dragged into the bucket shower.
We had two nights in the desert camp, where we have been very well maintained with Delicious 3 course dinner and a drink and a smile that welcomes us in every way! We had the most fantastic day – a long walk along the beach Rocky Point, where stephen king foamy pale green wash on the beach and stuck in the rocks like a big (but not so friendly), bubble bath, after some time in the fog shifted and it was all rather strange, a visit to the lonely grave on the beach only added to it, such as wood float abundant fish bones and bizarre (the shells have been quite a welcome addition).
But the sense of space and freedom was simply incredible and we all walked for an hour on the beach before being taken to wind up on the dunes for a lunch delicious picnic lunch and a well-deserved cold beer in the sun. large dune climbing and began to hear the roaring dunes as we were all sitting Our funds from the edge of our descent was so exciting – it is hard to describe how far away from the rest of the world you feel here.
There were so many other highlights of the trip. I have not even talked about our first flight to Windhoek in South Fish River Canyon, an amazing spectacle, especially air. I was also able to stay inside wolwedans NamibRand Nature Reserve for more than one night – surrounded by red dunes and a beautiful view, we had the best food I've tasted in Africa. Then there was also a great stay in Damaraland in the mountains where a herd spots Desert elephant Mowana Mountain Lodge was a real treat.
When we arrived in Etosha National Park we were sad to say goodbye to our driver / guide / map (which was dangerously starting to feel like a normal mode of transport!), but ready for an adventure in our Volkswagen Sharan! In a country of Namibia and the population size is less than 2 million people that we did not really see anyone outside of the boxes that we had been fantastic staying in. So initially it was a bit of a shock to the system to see other people and cars at the gate of the Etosha National Park. This was not helped by a flat tire when we passed the ticket! Fortunately, it was help at hand and once on the road again it appeared that traffic was not really a problem that we soon forgot all the world that we could watch the birds, oryx, ostrich, 4 lions and a herd of elephants around a waterhole.
There are many lodges around Etosha surprising, but one that remains etched on the newly opened Onguma Tented Camp. He plays funky modern decor, luxury and a great Attention to detail – How did they work in the bush, I do not know but it's great. They are also underway to open Onguma Plains Camp in the end 2006 promises to be ultra chic.
On our way back to Windhoek, we visited the Foundation to AFRICAT Okonjima, that was incredible and education in a fun way – AFRICAT are committed to the long-term conservation of large carnivores in Namibia, especially cheetahs and leopards. We followed Leopard (some of them with collar) and cheetah in their area of 4,000 hectares and is closer than I never learned before the fantasy and observation Photo!
It is difficult to summarize Namibia – it really felt like another planet a Much of the time because of the magnitude of the spectacular scenery. There is a lot to offer and I will certainly return as soon as I can! After all, I must go Swakopmund and learn to get on dunes, dune skiing, fish, sharks, kayaking, quad biking, paragliding, camel walk, visit the colony seal …..

Shawshank Redemption [VHS] $1.80 When this popular prison drama was released in 1994, some critics complained that the movie was too long (142 minutes) to sustain its story.
