Everything is just speculation at this point. I think this will be a while before there is any indication, confirmed the information available. My opinion, since you asked, it the remake is unnecessary, but it can not possibly be worse than the original made-for TV version. As one of my favorite stories King, it really bothered me to see him so badly massacred in adaptation. Please note that I say "Disturbed" and not "surprised" because this slaughter is about the standard treatment when they get their books are brought to the screen. I wish they would either leave his stories alone or do a good job when they make movies, but there are only a few that have been processed correctly. The vast majority of films based on King's work is garbage, like most fan of his books tend to agree.
