lasting impact of shirley chisholm?!?!?

i know like that she was the first black woman to be elected to congress.. but as far as like… after that… what were some things she impacted?? ive read her biographies i just cant find it!!!

Shirley Chislom was also the first african american to run for the office of President of the United States. She was a role model for African Americans and for women that they could enter politics and promote change. In congress she was a strong advocate for social justice and economic and educational opportunity. Since that time (her election) there are now a plurality of women in Congress and are women U.S. Senators. She was the (first) pioneer of women in the legistltive branch of the federal government.

It’s interesting, Shirley Chislom once commented that she found much more discrimination in the fact that she was a woman than african american. This was picked up this past election year in the difficulties of Hillary Clinton in comparison to Barak Obama.
