college textbook Rentals – A Great Way to Save
Ask anyone who is in college or who has been in college recently and they will tell you that buying textbooks is one of the biggest expenses you will encounter. The average textbook can be anywhere between $50 and $150, and textbooks for some fields such as advanced mathematics or medicine can be $200, $300, or more. And at the end of the semester when you go to sell your book back you may literally get pennies on the dollar for it, and that’s if the bookstore even buys it back at all!
Luckily for many college students, however, recently renting textbooks has become a viable new way to obtain the materials you need without being committed to paying for them. There is great potential to save money by doing this since renting the books costs a fraction of the cost to buy them and also because you don’t have to worry about whether or not the bookstore will take them back at the end of the year.
in order to rent textbooks, the student must go online and search for the required book by title, author, or ISBN. Once you find the book you can choose how long you need it for and then search across various rental companies to see which one has the best prices on rentals and shipping. Some companies even include free shipping (and pre-paid return shipping for when you’re done with the book!) to make the deal even better.
One important thing to mention, however, is to check before renting a textbook to make sure it comes with any DVDs or CDs that may have originally been part of the book package (for example, some books have CDs in sleeves attached to the inside cover of the book). Anyone considering renting a textbook will want to make sure that any necessarily electronic materials are included. Depending on the course subject, the CDs or DVDs may contain software, music examples, or video presentations, for example.
Textbook renting is a new and innovative way for college students to save money at a time in their lives when they’re often short on funds and high on debt. Fortunately, there are a few companies around that make renting textbooks easy and pain free for college students, and it’s definitely worth looking into if you’re a college or university student interested in saving money.
