novel writing
What exactly is a plot when writing a novel?

I know the gist of it, but I would like someone to explain it very well to me. I am new to writing and young, so please nobody say, “If you don’t know what a plot is then you shouldn’t be writing”. I know what one is, I just want more specific detail so I can write mine down before starting my novel. Thanks!

Ok, a plot is simple. It is what happens throughout a story. It starts with an EXPOSITION. In the exposition, you introduce the conflict, characters, setting, etc. Then you go through the RISING ACTION. This is where you develop the characters and conflict and work the story along. Then, the CLIMAX is like the top of a roaler coaster. This is where the story is most exciting and the character go about solving the problem. The FALLING ACTION is after the climax, usually short in books and where things cool down from the climax. And the end is the RESOLUTION, and most of the time, a character learns something by now from the climax. Gosh, this doesnt really make sense but I hope you got it and that I helped.
