I have an idea for a self-help type of book. What is the best way to get it published?
The idea I have would appeal to parents and would include functional usable tear-out pages, so it’s not your typical book.
Any ideas on publishers? How to pitch the idea? Who and in which companies should I send it to? Should I complete it and send a “manuscript” out?
Any other helpful suggestions are welcome!

The first poster is correct. With non-fiction books, the manuscript need not be finished, but it should at least be started so that you’re able to write a proper book proposal (and so that you have direction for the finished product.)
You need to make a trip to the library and use some resource/research books like the literary Market place or the writers Market (these books will help you identify agents and publishers of non-fiction books) and then read some books on proper formatting of non-fiction book manuscripts, how to write a non-fiction book proposal, how to bulletproof your manuscript, etc.
On-line you can check out the Preditors&Editors website. I believe they list agents and publishers for the non-fiction market.
But sincerely, the most important task to start with is the book itself. If you haven’t got anything down on paper yet, worrying about an agent or a publisher is premature.
