Lovers of jane austen and the Brontes, what do you like?
I'm looking for books that are truly captivating in style Bronte or Jane Austen. Of course nobody will be as good, but its focus on small details of domestic life in a small way I try to absorb? just Outlander and ordered to kill a mocking bird, you thank you! Am Pepys reading log at the moment!
I read a lot of Jane Austen. I appreciate because it was actually a feminist in her time. She pointed out many problems that women have in society who have been unjust. I'm not big on romance novels, but I have a tape to listen while I paint an apartment and it was Highlander Diana Gabaldon. I then fell in love with the band that I had hardback so I do not miss anything. This is the story of a nurse who, after World War II met with her husband and they go to Inverness in Scotland to repair their marriage after a long absence. It is a stone circle and intends noise and finds himself in the 1700s in Scotland. There she met her husband British ancestors and Jamie, the Scottish Highlander and his group of clan members. Without tell you more, what you get from these books plus a great love story, you get the day to day problems of life in years 1700 in the context of modern times. You also learn a lot about Scottish history. If you continue with the series there are four books and over very long and an accompanying book so you can see the things mentioned in the books. The books go through his life, grandchildren of the birth and growth of its children and then. The family moved for different reasons so you can see the revolution in Paris and also the court life, whereas in the Caribbean and they finally be found in the United States just at the beginning of the American Revolution. Diana Gabaldon had done much research and you just fall in love with all the people all learn a lot about 1700 life. I highly recommend them.
