help! Moby Dick, what truths were the two characters in search of history.?
for my spa end we have to write an essay on Moby Dick, which never told us we had to read. so if anyone can please give me a little outline of what the answer could be heres the question: "Herman Melville in his novel Moby Dick, thought I was looking for deeper truths. He uses the characters of Ahab and Ishmael to find different types of truths about the great white whale. Discuss what things to the two characters were looking at history. Further more discuss examples of political "truths" of Melville Times revealed in the work. "Ive been sparknoting all and has not been helping much. My English teacher just gave us essay question for today, finally, which is tomorrow, please help! id really appreciate it.
His teacher would not give a final based on a book that was never allocated, especially Moby-Dick. A book as this is not something you can read all night. It takes weeks, maybe months, to read and understand them thoroughly. I'm sure you assign a day and were absent or were not paying attention. That said, you should read the chapter entitled "The Quarter Deck." It will tell you everything you need to know about Ahab and his pursuit of the whale white. Good luck.

A Herman Melville Encyclopedia $188 Herman Melville is one of the most challenging authors of American literature. Known primarily as the author of Moby-Dick, he wrote several other novels, short stories, and poems. With the rise of interest in Melville in the 20th century, critical and biographical studies of Melville continue to be published at an ever-increasing rate. This encyclopedia is a comprehensive guide to Melville's rich and complex literary career. The volume includes several hundred alphabetically arranged entries for all of Melville's works and characters, and for his family members, friends, and acquaintances. Entries on the most important topics include bibliographies. The encyclopedia is more factual than critical, but scholarship from 1990 and beyond is emphasized throughout. The book also gives special attention to the 19th-century women who influenced Melville, for these women have often been overlooked. A chronology overviews the principal events in Melville's life, and a selected bibliography lists major studies. |
