any ideas for a cheap murder mystery party?
im 16 and i want to throw a murder mystery party. i would not like to buy anything, but if worst came to worst i would at like a book store or party store. i might have a co-host and 6- 10 people. any ideas for the overall ongoing of it and ideas for the food would be greatly appreciated. i have come to be known for my amazing parties but am not that popular. i really want to wow my friends. help!!!!
If you really want to have a good party, base it on a book or movie. There are lots of ideas. You can fill a bowl with slips of paper with possible plots written on them and have each person guess what movie it’s from OR you can make it like Charades, and put the title of the movie on the slips of paper and have each person act them out. You can go to your local Dollar Store and get some really cheap prizes. You can ask that the guests all dress like their favorite character in a Murder Mystery or, all dress like Sherlock Holmes and give a prize for the best one. Google “Murder Mysteries” and get some ideas from the key words that come up. Rent an old MM flick – two really good ones are “Death Trap” (an old Christopher Reeves film) or “The Mirror Cracked” or “Evil Under the Sun”(old agatha christie films). Excellent movies and I bet no one in your age group has seen them before! Watch the movie ahead of time, and pick a time in the movie to turn it off, (before the murderer is revealed) and ask the guests to write down “who-dunit” on a piece of paper with their name and hand it in. Then take an intermission for snacks, etc. Start the movie again and see who the winners are! Give the Super Slueths a prize or maybe a coupon for a free movie rental at a video store.
