How can I tell what edition my magic the gathering cards are?
I have found what I believe are first edition magic the gathering cards and I would like to price them but I have to know what edition they are to determine exact prices. They say “Deckmaster” They are from 1994.
Ok, first, you look at the border, if it’s black, it could possibly be Beta or Alpha, if it’s white, it’s not, that means it’s Revised or 4th.
Now, if it IS black, then the really only way to find out if it’s Beta or Alpha is to really look at the card, there are VERY small differences depending on the cards.
Such as Lightning Bolt, the Alpha Version was darker than the Beta version. Different cards have different things about them between Beta and Alpha.
Best thing is to take to an expert in a big city that you can trust, and get multiple opinions.
Also, if your SUURE that it was made in 1994, then it’s Beta, Alpha was released in 1993
