For Christians: If someone believes that Jesus is the Son of God and not God, are they Christian?

why or why not?

Is it their fault that what they understand of the Bible (with good intentions) is different from other Christians who believe in the trinity? They just want to know what’s right, like everyone else and you have to admit that arguments can be made for both sides from scripture.

* I discount any additional books besides the Bible because ONLY God’s Word should be our authority

not trying to start trouble but just wanted to find out what the majority here thinks
Colosssians 2:9 For in him (Christ) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Is this not proof that He IS God?

This is a difficult question, Birdy. A person is not at fault for making honest mistakes in their theology. That would include their view of Jesus’ deity. But, and it’s an enormous but, once they have been taught the error of their beliefs, they are responsible to conform to orthodoxy. You see, at that point it’s no longer a matter of ignorance. Rather it’s rebellion, plain and simple. The Christian Church has *always* affirmed the divine nature of Jesus. He is the very Son of God. What you have to realize is that this means Jesus is the same kind of being as his father. Everybody knows that cows beget cows, sheep beget sheep, and people beget people. Well, God begets God. There is nothing confusing about that at all. Everyone in Jesus’ day understood this. That’s why they tried to kill him so often. For a Jew, a human being claiming God as his biological father was utter blasphemy. It was a claim to deity itself. This is the teaching of Jesus, entrusted to his apostles, and preserved by the Church. Jesus Christ was “God with us”– Emmanuel. Rejecting this teaching after understanding it separates one from the community of faith established by Jesus himself.

Groups that deny the deity of Christ are not and have never been Christian.

Christian Nation?

Christian Nation?

$45

Hundreds of books are devoted to the ever-timely subject of the separation of church and state in America, but none does exactly what Christian Nation?: The United States in Popular Perception and Historical Reality does. Unlike other studies, this intriguing examination asks the right questions, defines the terms of the debate, explores the widely diverging points of view with equal respect for all sides, and provides insightful commentary and factual conclusions that cut through the clutter. The book begins with several questions: Is the United States a “Christian Nation?” Has it ever been? Was it ever meant to be? What did the Founding Fathers say? How has this issue been interpreted by various individuals and factions over the centuries? The author then surveys the vast literature on this topic, including the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence and the competing and/or complimentary views of various Founding Fathers to arrive at the answersand, at long last, the truth.
