children's story books
What is the name of this children’s story book?

It was about a toyshop where all the toys inside came alive, I think there was a young girl who was trying to buy a toy. The last page had a picture of the outside of the toyshop. It could have been a story inside a large collection of children’s stories? Any ideas?

“The Little Toy Shop” by Frances Wolfe?
“Come and explore Mr. Kringle’s special little toy shop, where he spends his days helping every customer find just the right toy. When a box arrives at the shop with a small stuffed bunny inside, Mr. Kringle determines to find him a loving home in time for Christmas. Could the little girl who peers through the toy-shop window be the one who provides just the home he seeks?

Meet Teddy, the stuffed bear who befriends Bunny, and watch their friendship deepen as, one by one, the other toys leave the shop. Will the little girl who stared at Bunny through the window ever come back to claim him?

Frances Wolfe’s vibrant paintings complement her poignant prose in this heartwarming tale of love lost and found for the young and the young at heart.”

' …clear, jargon free but spot on theoretically.'. – Alan Burnell, Co-Director of Family Futures Consortium. ' …absolutely brilliant – so much put into so few words, but which say so much. Thank you!'. – Karen Palmer, Adoption Social Worker with Norfolk Children's Services. 'Many thanks for your excellent book – you managed to condense some really complex ideas into bite-sized pieces. I will be including it in the books that I take with me when running training.'. – Polly Baynes, children's guardian and independent life story work trainer. 'I …read it with great enjoyment. I very much appreciate the way you use the insights from attachment theory to inform your work, and agree with you that it is essential to reinforce positive messages about the child's current life and to involve the adopters in the process'. – Jeanne Kaniuk, Head of Adoption & Permanent Families Service. ' I have been writing Life story books for a number of years, and your approach answers a number of dilemmas I have had about how best to present the books.'. – Pip Thomas, Permanency Planning Social Worker for Worcestershire Children's Services. '[My manager] gave all adoption team staff a copy… I read it that evening and have promoted it to a few families already. The level of clarity is just what the service needed and I am really really grateful that you have put the book into print and in such a user-friendly way.'. – Jenny Fletcher, Adoption Support Social Worker for Oxfordshire County Council. Through words, pictures, photographs, certificates and other 'little treasures', a Life Story Book provides a detailed account of the child's early history and a chronology of their life. This clear and concise book shows a new family-friendly way to compile a Life Story Book that promotes a sense of permanency for the child, and encourages attachments within the adoptive family. Joy Rees' improved model works chronologically backwards rather than forwards, aiming to reinforce the child's sense of belonging and security within the adoptive family before addressing the child's past and early trauma. The book contains simple explanations of complex concepts, practical examples and helpful suggestions. Perfect for busy social workers in local authority children and adoption teams, approved adoption agencies and adoptive parents, Life Story Books for Adopted Children is a refreshing, innovative and common-sense guide.

Writing Children's Books For Dummies

Writing
children\’s books For Dummies

$19.99

Everyone loves a children’s book. And many dream about writing one. But is it actually possible for an unpublished writer—armed with a good story idea and a love of kids—to write, sell, publish, and promote a book? Yes, it is! Veteran children’s book publishing executive and author Lisa Rojany Buccieri and author Peter Economy show you how, in their incredibly useful 2005 first edition of Writing Children’s Books For Dummies® . Buccieri and Economy begin by explaining the basics of the children’s book business, from the nuts and bolts of the various formats and genres—with helpful illustrations to aid you—to the intricacies of the book publishing market, a list of recent award-winning books, and a first peek into the particular mind set that writing children’s books requires. (Hint: Throw out the adult rules, and think like a kid!) Then the authors dive into the actual writing process itself, with tips on setting up a workspace, brainstorming great book ideas, researching the subject you decide on, even speaking with the sorts of kids you hope will eventually read the book. They show you how to create compelling characters and develop them in the manuscript; how to outline and write a plot “arc” of conflict, change, and resolution; how to master the difficult art of writing dialogue; and how to use active (rather than passive) language to keep your story moving along and interesting to young minds. Or, if you’re planning to write a creative nonfiction children’s book—on a topic such as science, nature, or a historical figure, for example—the authors include a chapter on this, too. Ready, set, go… it’s time to sit down and write! Once you’ve finished your book, however, the process has only begun. Now you will refine, submit, and hopefully sell your manuscript. Here again, the authors of Writing Children’s Books For Dummies come through for you. They deliver solid advice on hiring an illustrator—or not; participating in workshops and conferences to learn the business and hone a story; finding an agent; and, finally, submitting the manuscript to publishers and—if you are successful—signing a contract. Along the way, the authors also include tips on handling rejection; a quick primer on the various editors in publishing houses (and how they work to make your book its best); and making a plan to publicize the book, including hiring a publicist if necessary. Like all For Dummies ® books, Writing Children’s Books For Dummies highlights “The Part of Tens,” which includes the Ten Best Ways to Promote Your Story and More Than Ten Great Sources for Storylines. And the ever-helpful Cheat Sheet includes Tips for Editing your Children’s Book Manuscript, Children’s Book No-No’s, Twelve Commandments for Writing Younger Children’s Books, and Tips on Promotion. From setting down that first word on paper to doing a successful publicity tour, Writing Children’s Books For D
