books In Sync recognizes Dead Knight by award-winning author William R. Potter
DEAD Jack Knight is a mystery Staal:
Your next birthday may be a murder!
Believing he is a soldier of justice, a young man begins a campaign wrong terror cruel murder of women on their birthdays. Convinced of his justice, continues its brutal crusade to force the citizens of BC Hanson to recognize a serial murderer active his rural community.
The RCMP always get their man … but if it fails first Staal Jack!
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police put your Integrated Homicide Investigation Team in action. Detective Jack Staal and the rest of Hanson PD are invited to support the RCMP. However, Staal, the researcher Main crime, once reduced to the elite detective people are desperate for redemption. Ignores protocol to work a case that is not the solution.
Told from the perspective of both murderer and police died from Caballero is a cat and mouse thriller sure to delight fans of Patricia Cornwell or Michael Kay Scarpetta Connelly Harry Bosch.
The first test:
Author William R. Potter takes the reader to the heart and soul of its protagonist and mind a twisted psychopath. Potter's first novel full-length, Dead of Knight is told from the point of view of Detective Jack Staal and the prospect of a murderer who kills women on their birthdays.
Through intelligent use of history back, we learn that the detective Staal is suffering from post-traumatic stress after a horrible shot. You can not shake the horror of that day, Staal has left his position with the homicide squad and the Vancouver PD has resurrected his career with the service police in a country town called Hanson fiction, British Columbia.
Concerned about the biggest case of his career bracket, is forced to the outside Staal when the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Integrated Homicide Team is assigned to the case. Not one to sit on the bench, Staal convinces his colleagues to follow suit and carry out a serial murderer that the media has dubbed Birthday Boy.
Believing is a soldier of justice, a young wrong has launched a campaign of terror insensitive. Damian Knight (Birthday Boy) is convinced of his righteousness and continues its brutal crusade of vengeance. As a count of the dead, so does the value of Knight and soon turns his anger in a weary Staal. Staal and Knight played a cat and mouse exciting journey that culminates in an epic, one to one meeting of the COP against a murderer.
Potter has created an intriguing police procedural with a strong main character, an amazing supporting cast and a plot with twists, turns, and plenty of tracks false. I have read many books of this genre with a character who is a womanizer bulletproof Neanderthal. However, Staal Jack Potter has a strong, well physically and emotionally. This is an author not afraid to show his hero breaking down or make mistakes. Potter has written a captivating story filled with lots of tension and conflicts, crisp dialogue and a relentless pace. He puts us in the story with vivid descriptions and scene-painting narrative.
I recommend Dead Jack Knight-Staal A Mystery. It is sure to delight fans of Kay Scarpetta, Patricia Cornwell and Michael Connelly Harry Bosch.

Books $10.99 In a prolific life of singular literary achievement, Larry McMurtry has succeeded in a variety of genres: in coming-of-age novels like The Last Picture Show ; in collections of essays like In a Narrow Grave ; and in the reinvention of the Western on a grand scale in his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Lonesome Dove . Now, in Books: A memoir , McMurtry writes about his endless passion for books: as a boy growing up in a largely “bookless” world; as a young man devouring the vastness of literature with astonishing energy; as a fledgling writer and family man; and above all, as one of America’s most prominent bookmen. He takes us on his journey to becoming an astute, adventurous book scout and collector who would eventually open stores of rare and collectible editions in Georgetown, Houston, and finally, in his previously “bookless” hometown of Archer City, Texas. In this work of extraordinary charm, grace, and good humor, McMurtry recounts his life as both a reader and a writer, how the countless books he has read worked to form his literary tastes, while giving us a lively look at the eccentrics who collect, sell, or simply lust after rare volumes. Books: A Memoir is like the best kind of diary — full of McMurtry’s wonderful anecdotes, amazing characters, engaging gossip, and shrewd observations about authors, book people, literature, and the author himself. At once chatty, revealing, and deeply satisfying, Books is, like McMurtry, erudite, life loving, and filled with excellent stories. It is a book to be savored and enjoyed again and again. |
