What is the difference between a primary and a secondary source Soure for a bibliography format?

My social studies teacher wants the class to make a sentence three annotated bibliography. One of the phrases said if the source (book or website) is a primary or secondary source. I do not know the difference between the two. Please help! It's for tomorrow! Thanks!
