Is equal to the bad publicity Bad Reputation: Things authors should not do and to promote a book

We see objects all the time outlining how to promote a book the right way. However, what is the wrong way? The truth is that there are a lot of bad ways an author can be promoted and books. The bad publicity is worse than no publicity, because it can damage your reputation as an author and to lose sales rather than profit from them. Below I've made a list of tips to show what the authors should never do in terms of promotion.

  1. Spamming
  2. For a reviewer or any media contact others after offending spam. The authors have discussed this very thing, but the spam is what it is and we can not dress to look like different. Whenever you send something that is unsolicited, technically that's spam. But there are types of spam and junk mail should never be the choice of an author and to promote the time. Spam is the sending of multiple emails to inform people about your books. I've seen this done by authors and publishers called. Despite that burns me to get these authors, I can excuse your ignorance before it can be a publicist. A publicist is supposed to have contacts and know the proper ways promote. Any advertising spam to try and sell your book is not one you want to work. Their practices will ultimately damage their reputation if properly maintained. The spam ads also send a number of people who ask for them. Spam shows the recipient that you are not serious about his book and lacks professional relationships public skills. That's not a great quality in an author and damage how people perceive you.

So what is spam? A personal letter to someone it is not spam. If you write an email to someone in person with their name and their treatment, this is not spam. But sending ads to a hundred people at the same time … is. Do not.

  3. Do not have a website or have a website without a domain name
  4. If you do not want to sell books then do not have a website. That's the bottom line. If an author has a website below that shows how much they care about selling their books. If do not take the time to have an online presence then do not sit around waiting for royalty checks, because believe me, none of them come in. All you expect to sell something you need a website. You can build a website for free with the use of templates, step by step so there is no excuse. Other options are to use a page MySpace as your main site. I have a website but also use my MySpace page as a place like that. You have to have something that informs readers about potential his books.

You do not have a website without a domain name. If you have a bad taste website without a personal domain name that is as bad as having none. No matter how beautiful is your site, but if you have the words "free" anywhere in its direction is considered cheap. The visitors wonder what kind of author can not take the time to register a domain name to have a truly professional site. The domain names of companies lower their sites and this gives a certain perception to readers. Get a domain name. They cost a lot.

On the other hand, if you can not design a decent website then there are companies that will do it for you. We should at least make an effort.

  5. Burning Bridges
  6. You can always tell a new writer or someone who has no experience because most new writers think they know everything and know nothing. ignorant writers burn bridges for the first time outside the door. It is a sure way to lose sales and damage your reputation. Examples would be burning bridges cursing out a literary critic who did not like his book. Not everyone will like your work and if you think you should not be in writing. Other examples would be rude to the fans, that does not answer fan mail (even if it takes a while to return to the person making an effort to write again. You can simply email them if you e-mail. Let them know that you can see who bought his book, first place), being difficult to worth with another example.

Many new writers do not know how to be professionals with anyone, including editors. The promotion more you do, More editorial promotion will help you with. If you sit on your butt, not give you that extra push. It is necessary to show how proactive you are and will make a great effort to help. Furthermore, it is a good idea to be disrespectful to his publisher or to develop an attitude. You can be published now, but that could change. The editors are more likely to cope with the authors that are easy to deal with then rioters. Do not burn bridges and learn to take a professional attitude to things.

  7. Developing the "I'm publishing, so I'm better than you" attitude
  8. Another way of selling books is not to become arrogant, cocky and stubborn towards people in the industry. I know a famous writer (who remain anonymous), which has sold tons of books, but is the most arrogant man on the planet. Neglect the nose to the fans, authors and anyone else who feels it is not worth breathing the same air with him. What achieved it? A reputation of being ungrateful to the people who have done what it is. No matter who you are published or how many books have you sold, the treatment people with no respect can damage your reputation. It's worse if you're a new author, as they depend on how well it does for the first time outside the door. Authors do not realize the way they act outside of being an author affect your sales. Published authors are considered celebrities in the literary world. Fans and readers want to know more on them. If you have a bad reputation and cocky attitude, that will know. Nothing is secret once they are published. Also, be careful with whom the lack of respect or treated badly in the industry. This can make your entire career.

  9. How to fake reviews and threatening people who gets bad reviews

Well It's bad enough when an author is upset by the opinion of a professional critic of his book, but it is ridiculous when an author is upset in a reader for your opinion. All we want people to love our books because we love them but this will not be the case. If you wait a long career in writing that you should remember to hold on to that thick skin that must be published first. Some authors, mainly published by the parties themselves have begun a tend to have fake reviews posted on Amazon, praising his books. This disables the reading public immediately because they can tell a fake examination true. Even the most famous writers were not five star reviews for each book.

It is not possible that everyone loves your book so this is easily identifiable as a hoax. Instead it harms the reputation of being an author seriously. The worst thing is that some authors have used the threat that his books give readers a comment negative! When some writers down the intimidation, I do not understand, but you can not make someone like your book. It also does not have the right to threaten anyone a right to state their true opinions. If you do this, you might as well say goodbye to your sale. His unscrupulous practices spread fast and this kind of behavior kill book sales and reduces its fan base.

Authors should remember that although the book sale should be your main concern, there are ways to go about this. an author's reputation is important and sticks with them throughout their career. We need to make wise decisions and see how we react to things even before they are posted. What may seem minor at the time could end up harming his life as a respected author in the long term as well as the decline in book sales.

Authors on Writing

Authors on Writing

Drawing on some 3,000 published interviews with contemporary authors, Authors on Writing: Metaphors and Intellectual Labor reveals new ways of conceiving of writing as intellectual labor. Authors’ metaphorical stories about composing highlight not interior worlds but socially situated cultures of composing and apparatuses of authorship. Through an original method of interpreting metaphorical stories, Tomlinson argues that writing is both an individual activity and a collective practice, a solitary activity that depends upon rich, sustained, and complex social networks, institutions, and beliefs. This new book draws upon interviews with writers including: Seamus Heaney, Roald Dahl, Samuel Beckett, Bret Easton Ellis, John Fowles, Allen Ginsburg, Alice Walker and Gore Vidal.

Authors of the Storm

Whether it is used as an icebreaker in conversation or as the subject of serious inquiry, “the weather” is one of the few subjects that everyone talks about. And though we recognize the faces that bring us the weather on television, how government meteorologists and forecasters go about their jobs is rarely scrutinized. Given recent weather-related disasters, it’s time we find out more. In Authors of the Storm, Gary Alan Fine offers an inside look at how meteorologists and forecasters predict the weather. Based on field observation and interviews at the Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma, the National Weather Service in Washington, D.C., and a handful of midwestern outlets, Fine finds a supremely hard-working, insular clique of professionals who often refer to themselves as a “band of brothers.” In Fine’s skilled hands, we learn their lingo, how they “read” weather conditions, how forecasts are written, and, of course, how those messages are conveyed to the public. Weather forecasts, he shows, are often shaped as much by social and cultural factors inside local offices as they are by approaching cumulus clouds. By opening up this unique world to us, Authors of the Storm offers a valuable and fascinating glimpse of a crucial profession.
