Can you trust Authorhouse.com?
I would like to know, because I’m writing my first book, and I would like to get it published when it’s done. I’m not sure many publishers would want to publish my book, because I’m only 14. I saw Authorhouse.com, but I’m not sure about it. Maybe I’m just being paranoid, but I want to make sure it’s legitimate before I submit any information. If it’s not, could anyone tell me about some that are, because I really want my book published.
Well, just to be safe, I won’t trust them. I’ll just wait and do what The Goddess of Demon said. It’s better if I wait and ask my English teacher if she can help me find a publisher. Thanks everyone for helping me out there.
Let me give you a little friendly advice. I’m a teenage writer too (I’m fifteen) and I’m writing a trilogy. Most people won’t take you seriously unless you’re an adult, but I’ve found that some teachers do. Show your book to a teacher and ask for their honest opinion on it. Really listen to their advice and insight; they know what they’re talking about. Then, after you’ve finished, wait a month and go back and read it. Make marks with a red pen on what you think you can improve. When you’e done that, give yourself an alotted amount of time to edit it and refine what you’ve already done. SAVE YOUR ORIGINAL COPY. You’ll want to look back at it later. When you think it’s ready to publish, talk to your teacher again and ask for their help contacting publishers or literary agencies. English teachers often have serious connections in the literary world. People will be impressed by all the work you’ve put into it. It takes a lot of passion and self discipline to stick with a book for so long; anyone would be impressed. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck! When you do get published, send me an e-mail! ^_^

books $10.99 In a prolific life of singular literary achievement, Larry McMurtry has succeeded in a variety of genres: in coming-of-age novels like The Last Picture Show ; in collections of essays like In a Narrow Grave ; and in the reinvention of the Western on a grand scale in his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Lonesome Dove . Now, in Books: A memoir , McMurtry writes about his endless passion for books: as a boy growing up in a largely “bookless” world; as a young man devouring the vastness of literature with astonishing energy; as a fledgling writer and family man; and above all, as one of America’s most prominent bookmen. He takes us on his journey to becoming an astute, adventurous book scout and collector who would eventually open stores of rare and collectible editions in Georgetown, Houston, and finally, in his previously “bookless” hometown of Archer City, Texas. In this work of extraordinary charm, grace, and good humor, McMurtry recounts his life as both a reader and a writer, how the countless books he has read worked to form his literary tastes, while giving us a lively look at the eccentrics who collect, sell, or simply lust after rare volumes. Books: A Memoir is like the best kind of diary — full of McMurtry’s wonderful anecdotes, amazing characters, engaging gossip, and shrewd observations about authors, book people, literature, and the author himself. At once chatty, revealing, and deeply satisfying, Books is, like McMurtry, erudite, life loving, and filled with excellent stories. It is a book to be savored and enjoyed again and again. |
