Umayr Ibn Sad Al-Ansari
Sad ibn Umayr became orphaned at an early age. His father died leaving him and his mother poor and destitute. His mother eventually married again, to one of the richest men in Medina. His name was ibn Julas Suwayd who was from the powerful tribe of al-AWS. Umayr Julas was well cared for and loved as a son would a father's love. In fact, he began to forget that he was an orphan. As Umayr grow Julas affection and love for him grew. Julas that admire the intelligence he showed in everything he did and honesty and honesty that characterized his behavior. Barely ten years became Umayr a Muslim. Faith is in its tender heart a safe place and went deep into his being. Despite the youth, who never delay in the performance of salat behind of the noble Prophet. Often found in the front row of the faithful, with the hope of Thawab promised to those who attend mosques early and sit on the most important rows. His mother was particularly pleased whenever she saw him coming and going of the mosque, sometimes with her husband and sometimes alone.
Umayr days spent in this way, undisturbed important to disturb the calm and contentment. This idyllic state, however, could not last forever. Umayr was about to face a more difficult test for a boy his age, an event that shook the quiet and loving home and challenged the strength of their faith. In the ninth year after the Hijrah, the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, announced his intention to lead an expedition to Tabuk against the Byzantine forces. He ordered the Muslims to prepare and make the necessary preparations. Usually, when the Prophet wanted to go on a military campaign that he would not give precise details of their purpose or are left in a direction opposite to its intended destination. This was for security reasons and to confuse the enemy intelligence. This he did in announcing the expedition of Tabuk. This was such time because of the great distance from Tabuk to Medina, the enormous difficulties envisaged and the overwhelming power of the enemy. The necessary preparations for the expedition had to be extensive. Despite the fact that summer had set in and the intense heat produced languor and apathy, and despite the fact that the date crops needed harvesting, the Muslims responded enthusiastically to the call of the Prophet and busied themselves in preparation for the arduous campaign ahead. There was however a group of hypocrites who munafiqun or had outward declared their acceptance of Islam, but inside he did not believe in it. They were critical of the expedition and tried to weaken the resolve of the Muslims. They even ridiculed the Prophet in their private meetings. Disbelief and hatred remained in their hearts.
One day, shortly before the army had set out, Sad ibn Umayr young returned home after performing Salat in the mosque. He was all excited about the excitement. He had just witnessed the great generosity and the spontaneous spirit of sacrifice that Muslims are in the preparation of the expedition. He had seen women of emigrants and the Ansar donating their jewels and ornaments to buy provisions and equipment for the army. Uthman ibn Affan had been delivering a bag containing a thousand gold dinars to the Prophet and
Abdur Rahman ibn Awl carrying on his shoulders Awqiyyah hundred gold and place it before the noble Prophet. In fact he had seen a man trying to sell his bed in order to buy a sword for himself. At home, he recalled the poignant and inspiring scenes. He was surprised however, that Julas was so slow in preparing for the expedition with the Prophet and his delay in contributing mainly because it was very rich and can afford to give generously.
Umayr felt I had to raise their ardor or stir his sense of generosity and manliness. So enthusiastically told him he had seen and heard in the mosque in particular the case of believers, with great fervor, they had come to enlist in the army and were rejected by the Prophet, because he had not sufficient means of transport. He said that these sad and people were disappointed in not realizing his desire to follow the path of Jihad and sacrifice for the cause of Islam. Julas response was strong and shocking. "If Muhammad is true stating that he is a prophet, "shouted angrily," we are all worse than donkeys. " Umayr stunned. I could not believe what I heard. I did not think a man as intelligent as Julas could have spoken the words, words that immediately put him outside the pale of faith. A series of questions through their dynamic mind and immediately began to consider what action to take. Julas watched silently 'and delay to answer the call of the Prophet, clear signs of a traitor to God and His Prophet, who wanted to harm Islam the same way as the munafiqun that they were conspiring and plotting against the Prophet. At the same time he saw a man who had treated him as a father and that was kind and generous with him, had taken it as an orphan and had saved him from poverty. Umayr had to choose between preserving this Julas closely with one hand and dealing with his treachery and hypocrisy on the other. The choice was painful, but her decision was swift. He turned to Julas and said: "By God, oh Julas, there is nobody on the face of the earth, after Muhammad ibn Abdullah, dearer to me than you. You are the closest of the me and men who have been most generous to me. But the words that you said that if I mention that they are exposed and humiliated. If they hide, however, I will be a traitor my confidence and destroy me and my religion. I, therefore, go to the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, and tell him what you said. Up to you to clarify position. "
The young man went to the Umayr mosque and told the Prophet what he had heard of Julas. The Prophet asked him to stay with him and sent one of his companions to call Julas. Julas arrived, greeted the Prophet and sat in front of him. The Prophet, peace be upon him immediately asked: "What did you say that Ibn Umayr just heard?" and told all that he had informed Umayr. "He lied against me, O Messenger of God and has invented this. I have not ruled anything like that, "said Julas. The companions of the Prophet looked alternately in Julas Umayr and hoping to detect in their faces what their hearts concealed. They began to murmur among themselves. One of those in whose hearts was the disease of hypocrisy said: "Youth is a nuisance. He is committed to defame someone who has been good to him. "Others replied:" Absolutely not. He is a young man who grew up in obedience to God. The expressions on his face testify to its veracity. "The Prophet, peace be upon him, turned and saw Umayr face red and tears streamed down his cheeks. Umayr prayed: "O Lord, get a revelation of His Prophet to verify what I told her." Julas
meanwhile continued defending what he said: "What I said, Oh Messenger of God, is certainly true. If you wish, we take an oath in his presence. I swear to God I did not say anything like that Umayr reported to you. "As fellow Umayr went to hear what he had to say, they saw the Prophet come under a special atmosphere of serenity and realized that I was inspired. Immediately there was silence as they all stared at the Prophet in anticipation. At this point, fear and terror Julas seized and began to look shaky in Umayr. The Prophet, having received the revelation, recited the words of God: "(The hypocrites) swear by God that they have said (not bad), but no doubt has uttered a sentence that is a denial of the truth, and so have denied the truth after having professed their own surrender to God, because they were for something that was beyond their reach. And they could find no fault (with faith), unless God had enriched them and (caused) His Submitted to enrich us with their generosity. Therefore, if they repent, it will be for their own good, but if they turn away, God will do serious harm in this world and in the Hereafter, and they will find no help on earth, and none of them help. "(Qur'an, Sura al-Tawbah, 9:74). Julas trembled with fear at what he heard and in their anguish, could hardly speak. Finally, he addressed the Prophet and said: "I do Messenger repent, O God. I regret it. Umayr told the truth and lied. I pray to God to accept my repentance … "The Prophet turned to the young Umayr. Tears of joy moistened his youthful face, radiant with the light of faith. With noble hand, the Prophet tenderly took his ear and said: "Young man, your ear has been true in what he heard and your Lord has confirmed the truth of what you said. "Julas returned to the fold of Islam and was a good Muslim and faithful thereafter. The guys realized that by their generosity and good treatment of Umayr, he had reformed. Umayr always mentioned, Julas say, "My reward from God Umayr with kindness on my part. Of course, saved me from kufr and preserved the neck of hellfire. "
Umayr grew up and distinguished himself in later years with the same devotion and firmness he had shown in his first years. During the caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab, the people of Homs, Syria complained much and bitterly of the governors appointed to the city even though Umar used on All to pay special attention to the kind of men he chose as his provincial governors. In selecting a governor, Umar said: "A man when it is between individuals and not their amir, should not behave as their amir, and when he is among them as an emir, must behave as one. "I want a governor that are indistinguishable from people by the clothes you wear or the food we eat or the house you live in. "" I want a governor who would establish Salat between people treated equally and fairly and not close the door when they come to him in need. "In light of the complaints of the people of Homs and goes at its own discretion for good governor, Umar ibn al-Khattab decided to appoint Umayr ibn Sad as governor of the region. This was despite Umayr at that time was head of a Muslim army that crosses the Arabian peninsula and the region of the great Syria, liberating towns, destroying enemy fortifications, pacifying the tribes and provides masjids wherever he went. giving thanks to God and sending peace and blessings of His Prophet Muhammad. Then he said: "O people! Islam is a powerful strength and resistant door. The strength of Islam is justice and its gate is the truth. If you destroy the fortress and demolish the gate that would undermine the defenses of this religion. "Islam will remain strong as long as the Sultan or central authority is strong. The Sultan strength comes from flogging with a whip, or kill with the sword, but to govern with justice and holding fast to truth. "Umayr spent a full year in Hims during which, they say, he did not write a single letter to the Amir al-Muminin. Also send the taxes to the treasury office in Medina, not a dirham nor a dinar. Omar was always concerned with the performance of their governors and was afraid that the positions of authority who corrupt. Umayr received the letter. He took his bag and dropped food eating, drinking and washing utensils over his shoulder. He took his spear and left Hims and the government behind him. He went to Medina on foot. As is Umayr came to Medina, was badly sunburned, his body was emaciated and her hair had grown a lot. His appearance showed all the signs of the long and arduous journey. A long time passed since he had Umayr gone to his village and Umar decided to put through a test to make sure of their circumstances. He told one of his trusted aides called al-Harith: "Harith, go to Umayr ibn Sad and stay with it as if you were a guest. If you see in him no sign of luxury or good living, return quietly as he left. When al-Harith heard what she had said, he placed the dinars against Umayr and left. Umayr took the money and placed in a pouch. He just went to sleep that night after having distributed the money to the needy and especially the children of those who had been martyred. Al-Harith returned to Madinah and was questioned by Omar al-Faruq. "What you've seen, Harith?" "A very distressing situation, O Amir al-Muminin. "" Did you give him the dinars?
