World of Anatomy and Physiology in Henry Gray, Henry Gray, a pioneer of descriptive and surgical anatomy modern, author of Anatomy of the Human Body. An illustrated work, precisely, his book is as beautiful as it is practical, and is now widely valued as an authoritative text in the field of anatomy. Grey's Anatomy, as the publication has come to be known, is a standard not only for students of medicine and anatomy, but also for artists trying to more closely represent the human form. Gray was born in London and lived his entire life in the family home. His father position as a royal messenger enabled him to acquire professional training in Henry St George's Hospital. There, Gray studied medicine, quickly gaining preference by research in anatomy and in clinical practice. He was known for his highly developed skills of dissection, obtaining material for future book and several trials through his research at the Saint George. In 1848, Gray won a coveted award from the Royal College of Surgeons of anatomical work in the eye and optic nerves. After completing his education, Gray remained in Saint George's Hospital, taking a position as professor of anatomy. This allowed him to continue his research on surgical anatomy and to pursue other interests, such as embryology. In 1852, a presentation on "Glands Chicks, "one of the first examples of clear writing technique and attention to detail in order to know which was the work of Gray. he was appointed member of the Real. Society of Gray's career work was compiled and published in 1858, after a decade of research. Descriptive and surgical anatomy, as it originally titled, was immediately recognized as a pioneering work. Collaborated with H. Gray Vandyke Carter for the second edition in 1860. Carter illustrates the voluminous work, bringing the book both useful and successful. One of the first books of modern medicine, it remains one of the best known. After the publication of the Anatomy, Gray's career seemed to hold great promise. He was offered a position of Assistant Surgeon at St. George. However, ever-present interest in their investigation Gray led him to study the anatomical effects of infectious diseases at the bedside of his sick nephew. During his time with his nephew, Gray contracted smallpox and died in 1861, at the age of 34. He never assumed his new position.

Anatomy of the Heart by Multislice Computed Tomography $110.95 New MSCT machines produce a volume data set with the highest isotropic spatial resolution ever seen, offering superb 3D images of the entire heart and vessels. The texts currently available on cardiac CT imaging mainly focus on visualizing pathological aspects of coronary arteries. Anatomy of the Heart by Multislice Computed Tomography is the first text to bridge the gap between classical anatomy textbooks and CT textbooks, presenting a side-by-side comparison of ‘electronic’ dissection made by CT scanning and traditionally hand-made anatomical dissection. Focusing on the fundamentals as well as the details of cardiac anatomy in a clinical setting using MSCT, this is an invaluable reference for cardiac imaging trainees, cardiologists, radiologists, interventionists and electrophysiologists, providing a better understanding of the cardiac structures, coronary arteries and veins anatomy and their 3-dimensional spatial relationships. |

Radiological Anatomy for FRCR Part 1 $49.95 The new FRCR part 1 Anatomy examination comprises 20 cases/images, with five questions about each. The cases are labelled 01 to 20 and the five questions are labelled (a) to (e). The authors have set out to emulate this format by gathering 200 cases which, from their experience, are representative of the cases on which candidates will be tested. The book consists of 10 tests with 20 cases each, and 5 stem questions each. The answers, along with an explanation and tips, accompany each test at the end of the chapter. This will help candidates to identify the level of anatomical knowledge expected by the Royal College of Radiologists. The aim of this book is not to replace the already available literature in radiological anatomy, but to complement it as a revision guide. Whereas radiological anatomy atlases and textbooks provide images with labels for every possible identifiable structure in an investigation, the cases in this book have only 5 labels, simulating the exam. |
